Art in the Time of Corona

By Selva Ozelli

Selva Ozelli’s first digital solo art show “Art in the Time of Corona” will take place at the Pinelo Art Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey from June 5 to June 19, 2020, starting on World Environment Day. The inspiration behind the theme of her art show was Selva Ozelli's fourteen corona virus themed paintings –including her painting titled “Tsunami” being selected for United Nation's COVID19 Open Brief. "Tsunami" was also shortlisted in international Art in the Time of Corona competition held by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. “Tsunami” is part of Atelier Teymur Rzayev First Digital Climate Change Art Show which is a registered UN World Environment Day and World Ocean Day digital event that has been published by World’s first climate change museum The Jockey Club Museum for Climate Change-Hong Kong: https://www.facebook.com/pinelogallery/posts/3031564323588846.Both her solo and group art shows were curated by Selva Ozelli based on her series of articles on digital technology adoption, solar energy and tax policies in the jurisdictions with the greatest carbon emissions. These articles have been published by the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change – Hong Kong in addition to more than 100 other publications around the world. In her corona virus themed paintings Selva explored whether Climate Change caused by carbon emissions might be one reason for such a terrible global COVID-19 pandemic scenario. Carbon pollution defies national borders and is inescapable. The true cost of climate change is felt when it penetrates deep into our respiratory and circulatory systems and damages our lungs, which are highly vulnerable to the coronavirus, according to a report prepared by the WHO as stated her final article in her Climate Change article series titled “The Need to Report Carbon Emissions Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic” https://cointelegraph.com/news/the-need-to-report-carbon-emissions-amid-the-coronavirus-pandemic.“Art in the Time of Corona” includes portraits of Selva’s childhood friends going back to elementary school as well as Prof Erdal Arikan the creator of 5G technology and Vitalik Buterin the creator of digital currency and platform Ethereum https://cointelegraph.com/news/review-cointelegraph-inspired-climate-change-art-exhibition.

The Times of Corona is pleased to feature the artwork of Selva Ozelli Esq, CPA, an environmentalist who expresses the sentiment of the times of Corona in her work as an artist, writer, international tax attorney, and certified public accountant.

She has been trained as an artist by world-renowned painter Teymur Rzayev at his atelier. All 14 of her coronavirus themed paintings submitted to the United Nations COVID-19 competition were selected for worldwide display. Her painting, Tsunami 2 (iccr4art.com), was among the shortlisted paintings entered into the ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA competition held by the Indian Council For Cultural Relations. Her Tsunami 1 was a runner-up in the EnviroEd Climate Change art competition.

Her writings have been published in journals, books, and by the OECD and translated into 31 languages and republished in over 150 publications globally, including the World’s first Climate Change Museum, The Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change.
